Previous GeneCards Identifiers for ARR3 Gene
The protein encoded by this gene is a non-visual arrestin which binds to agonist-activated, phosphorylated G protein-coupled receptors. This binding uncouples the receptor from the heterotrimeric G protein, resulting in termination of the G protein-coupled receptor signaling. The encoded protein also is a part of the centrosome, interacting with gamma-tubulin to help regulate proper centrosome function. [provided by RefSeq, May 2016]
GeneCards Summary for ARR3 Gene
ARR3 (Arrestin 3) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with ARR3 include Myopia 26, X-Linked, Female-Limited and Leber Congenital Amaurosis. Among its related pathways are Thromboxane A2 receptor signaling and CXCR4-mediated signaling events. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include phosphoprotein binding and opsin binding. An important paralog of this gene is ARRB1.

May play a role in an as yet undefined retina-specific signal transduction. Could binds to photoactivated-phosphorylated red/green opsins.
