The protein encoded by this gene is a small Rho GTPase and a candidate tumor suppressor. The encoded protein interacts with the cullin-3 protein, a ubiquitin E3 ligase necessary for mitotic cell division. This protein inhibits the growth and spread of some types of breast cancer. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2011]
GeneCards Summary for RHOBTB2 Gene
RHOBTB2 (Rho Related BTB Domain Containing 2) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with RHOBTB2 include Epileptic Encephalopathy, Early Infantile, 64 and Acrodermatitis Chronica Atrophicans. Among its related pathways are Ubiquitin mediated proteolysis and p75 NTR receptor-mediated signalling. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include GTP binding. An important paralog of this gene is RHOBTB1.
