GeneCards Summary for TCEA3 Gene
TCEA3 (Transcription Elongation Factor A3) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with TCEA3 include Cockayne Syndrome and Spastic Paraplegia 34, X-Linked. Among its related pathways are RNA Polymerase II Transcription Initiation And Promoter Clearance. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include nucleic acid binding. An important paralog of this gene is TCEA1.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Summary for TCEA3 Gene
Necessary for efficient RNA polymerase II transcription elongation past template-encoded arresting sites. The arresting sites in DNA have the property of trapping a certain fraction of elongating RNA polymerases that pass through, resulting in locked ternary complexes. Cleavage of the nascent transcript by S-II allows the resumption of elongation from the new 3'-terminus.
