GeneCards Summary for STX4 Gene
STX4 (Syntaxin 4) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with STX4 include Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus 10 and Leukodystrophy, Hypomyelinating, 6. Among its related pathways are Response to elevated platelet cytosolic Ca2+ and Vesicle-mediated transport. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include SNARE binding and sphingomyelin phosphodiesterase activator activity. An important paralog of this gene is STX1B.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Summary for STX4 Gene
Plasma membrane t-SNARE that mediates docking of transport vesicles. Necessary for the translocation of SLC2A4 from intracellular vesicles to the plasma membrane. Together with STXB3 and VAMP2, may also play a role in docking/fusion of intracellular GLUT4-containing vesicles with the cell surface in adipocytes (By similarity). May also play a role in docking of synaptic vesicles at presynaptic active zones.
