Nuclear receptor subfamily 0 group B member 1 (Nr0b1/Dax1) binds close to the putative TATA box and negatively regulates activity of this sequence. A distal regulatory region located approximately 3 kb from the transcription start site contains additional Nr5a1/Sf1 binding sites and was shown by chromatin conformation analysis to associate with the proximal promoter.
