GeneCards Summary for KRTAP10-7 Gene
KRTAP10-7 (Keratin Associated Protein 10-7) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with KRTAP10-7 include Trochlear Nerve Disease and Vulvitis. Among its related pathways are Keratinization and Developmental Biology. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include identical protein binding. An important paralog of this gene is KRTAP10-6.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Summary for KRTAP10-7 Gene
In the hair cortex, hair keratin intermediate filaments are embedded in an interfilamentous matrix, consisting of hair keratin-associated proteins (KRTAP), which are essential for the formation of a rigid and resistant hair shaft through their extensive disulfide bond cross-linking with abundant cysteine residues of hair keratins. The matrix proteins include the high-sulfur and high-glycine-tyrosine keratins.
