This gene encodes a member of the dedicator of cytokinesis protein family. Members of this family are guanosine nucleotide exchange factors for Rho GTPases and defined by the presence of conserved DOCK-homology regions. The encoded protein belongs to the D (or Zizimin) subfamily of DOCK proteins, which also contain an N-terminal pleckstrin homology domain. Alternatively spliced transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been described. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2014]
GeneCards Summary for DOCK10 Gene
DOCK10 (Dedicator Of Cytokinesis 10) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with DOCK10 include Immunodeficiency 40. Among its related pathways are Response to elevated platelet cytosolic Ca2+ and Regulation of CDC42 activity. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include binding and Rho guanyl-nucleotide exchange factor activity. An important paralog of this gene is DOCK9.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Summary for DOCK10 Gene
Guanine nucleotide-exchange factor (GEF) that activates CDC42 and RAC1 by exchanging bound GDP for free GTP. Essential for dendritic spine morphogenesis in Purkinje cells and in hippocampal neurons, via a CDC42-mediated pathway. Sustains B-cell lymphopoiesis in secondary lymphoid tissues and regulates FCER2/CD23 expression.
