Previous GeneCards Identifiers for CSTF1 Gene
This gene encodes one of three subunits which combine to form cleavage stimulation factor (CSTF). CSTF is involved in the polyadenylation and 3'end cleavage of pre-mRNAs. Similar to mammalian G protein beta subunits, this protein contains transducin-like repeats. Several transcript variants with different 5' UTR, but encoding the same protein, have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
GeneCards Summary for CSTF1 Gene
CSTF1 (Cleavage Stimulation Factor Subunit 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CSTF1 include Cockayne Syndrome. Among its related pathways are Processing of Capped Intronless Pre-mRNA and Tat-mediated elongation of the HIV-1 transcript. Gene Ontology (GO) annotations related to this gene include RNA binding. An important paralog of this gene is WDR55.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Summary for CSTF1 Gene
One of the multiple factors required for polyadenylation and 3'-end cleavage of mammalian pre-mRNAs (PubMed:10669729). May be responsible for the interaction of CSTF with other factors to form a stable complex on the pre-mRNA (PubMed:10669729).
