Previous GeneCards Identifiers for MYB Gene
This gene encodes a transcription factor that is a member of the MYB family of transcription factor genes. The protein contains three domains, an N-terminal DNA-binding domain, a central transcriptional activation domain and a C-terminal domain involved in transcriptional repression. This protein plays an essential role in the regulation of hematopoiesis and may play a role in tumorigenesis. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. GeneCards Summary for MYB Gene
MYB (V-Myb Avian Myeloblastosis Viral Oncogene Homolog) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with MYB include acute basophilic leukemia and tuberculous salpingitis. Among its related pathways are PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and Neural Crest Differentiation. GO annotations related to this gene include transcription factor activity, sequence-specific DNA binding and RNA polymerase II core promoter proximal region sequence-specific DNA binding. An important paralog of this gene is MYBL1.
