This gene encodes a zinc finger protein containing five C2H2-type zinc finger domains, one or two Kruppel-associated box A (KRAB A) domains, and a leucine-rich domain. The encoded protein has been suggested to be a transcriptional repressor. It localizes predominantly to the nucleolus. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms exist. These variants utilize alternative polyadenylation signals. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
GeneCards Summary for ZNF274 Gene
ZNF274 (Zinc Finger Protein 274) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with ZNF274 include denys-drash syndrome. Among its related pathways are Development HGF signaling pathway and p75(NTR)-mediated signaling. GO annotations related to this gene include sequence-specific DNA binding transcription factor activity and transcription corepressor activity. An important paralog of this gene is ZSCAN18.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot for ZNF274 Gene
Probable transcription repressor. Specifically binds to the 3-end of zinc-finger coding genes and recruiting chromatin-modifying proteins such as SETDB1 and TRIM28/KAP1, leading to transcription repression.
