GeneCards Summary for UTS2R Gene
UTS2R (Urotensin 2 Receptor) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with UTS2R include pheochromocytoma. Among its related pathways are Signaling by GPCR and Signaling by GPCR. GO annotations related to this gene include G-protein coupled receptor activity and urotensin II receptor activity.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot for UTS2R Gene
High affinity receptor for urotensin-2 and urotensin-2B. The activity of this receptor is mediated by a G-protein that activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system.
Urotensin-II (UT) receptors are Gq/11-protein-coupled receptors that mediate complex hemodynamic effects and influence neuromuscular physiology. UT receptors display greatest expression levels in the peripheral vasculature, heart and kidney, although they are found in other tissues, notably the central nervous system, at lower levels. UT receptors produce potent but variable vasoconstrictor effects in some vascular beds yet mediate vasodilation in others and they have also been implicated in osmoregulation. The human gene encoding the UT receptor is located on chromosome 17q25.3.
