Protein kinase CK2 is a ubiquitous and pleiotropic Ser/Thr protein kinase involved in cell growth and transformation. This gene encodes a protein similar to the E2 ubiquitin conjugating enzyme UBC3/CDC34. Studies suggest that CK2-dependent phosphorylation of this ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme functions by regulating beta-TrCP substrate recognition and induces its interaction with beta-TrCP, enhancing beta-catenin degradation. GeneCards Summary for UBE2R2 Gene
UBE2R2 (Ubiquitin-Conjugating Enzyme E2R 2) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are Class I MHC mediated antigen processing and presentation and Remodeling of Adherens Junctions. GO annotations related to this gene include ubiquitin-protein transferase activity. An important paralog of this gene is UBE2G1.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot for UBE2R2 Gene
Accepts ubiquitin from the E1 complex and catalyzes its covalent attachment to other proteins. In vitro catalyzes monoubiquitination and Lys-48-linked polyubiquitination. May be involved in degradation of katenin.
