About This Section
| Entrez Gene summary for TRIM39: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tripartite motif (TRIM) family. The TRIM motif includes threezinc-binding domains, a RING, a B-box type 1 and a B-box type 2, and a coiled-coil region. The function of thisprotein has not been identified. This gene lies within the major histocompatibility complex class I region onchromosome 6. Alternate splicing results in two transcript variants encoding different isoforms. (provided by RefSeq,Jul 2008) UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot: TRI39_HUMAN, Q9HCM9Function: E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase. May facilitate apoptosis by inhibiting APC/C-Cdh1-mediated poly-ubiquitinationand subsequent proteasome-mediated degradation of the pro-apoptotic protein MOAP1
