About This Section

Entrez Gene summary for TARS Gene:
Aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases catalyze the aminoacylation of tRNA by their cognate amino acid. Because of their
central role in linking amino acids with nucleotide triplets contained in tRNAs, aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases are
thought to be among the first proteins that appeared in evolution. Threonyl-tRNA synthetase belongs to the
class-II aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase family (provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008)

GeneCards Summary for TARS Gene:
TARS (threonyl-tRNA synthetase) is a protein-coding gene. Diseases associated with TARS include antisynthetase syndrome, and follicular mucinosis, and among its related super-pathways are Cytosolic tRNA aminoacylation and Generic Transcription Pathway. GO annotations related to this gene include protein homodimerization activity and threonine-tRNA ligase activity. An important paralog of this gene is TARS2.
