About This Section
| Entrez Gene summary for STRADB: This gene encodes a protein that belongs to the serine/threonine protein kinase STE20 subfamily. One of the active siteresidues in the protein kinase domain of this protein is altered, and it is thus a pseudokinase. This protein is acomponent of a complex involved in the activation of serine/threonine kinase 11, a master kinase that regulates cellpolarity and energy-generating metabolism. This complex regulates the relocation of this kinase from the nucleus tothe cytoplasm, and it is essential for G1 cell cycle arrest mediated by this kinase. The protein encoded by this genecan also interact with the X chromosome-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein, and this interaction enhances theanti-apoptotic activity of this protein via the JNK1 signal transduction pathway. Two pseudogenes, located onchromosomes 1 and 7, have been found for this gene. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding differentisoforms have been found for this gene. (provided by RefSeq, May 2011) UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot: STRAB_HUMAN, Q9C0K7Function: Pseudokinase which, in complex with CAB39/MO25 (CAB39/MO25alpha or CAB39L/MO25beta), binds to and activatesSTK11/LKB1. Adopts a closed conformation typical of active protein kinases and binds STK11/LKB1 as a pseudosubstrate, promoting conformational change of STK11/LKB1 in an active conformation (By similarity) Gene Wiki entry for STRADB (ALS2CR2)

About This Section
| UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot: STRAB_HUMAN, Q9C0K7 (See
protein sequence)Recommended Name: STE20-related kinase adapter protein beta Size: 418 amino acids; 47026 Da
Subunit: Component of a trimeric complex composed of STK11/LKB1, STRAD (STRADA or STRADB) and CAB39/MO25(CAB39/MO25alpha or CAB39L/MO25beta): the complex tethers STK11/LKB1 in the cytoplasm and stimulates its catalyticactivity. Interacts with BIRC4/XIAP. These two proteins are likely to coexist in a complex with TAK1, TRAF6, TAB1 andTAB2
Subcellular location: Nucleus. Cytoplasm
Caution: Ser-184 is present instead of the conserved Asp which is expected to be an active site residue
