Summaries for MAGEE1 Gene

Entrez Gene Summary for MAGEE1 Gene

  • This gene encodes an alpha-dystrobrevin-associated MAGE (melanoma-associated antigen) protein, which is a member of the MAGE family. The protein contains a nuclear localization signal in the N-terminus, 30 12-amino acid repeats beginning at nt 60 with the consensus sequence ASEGPSTSVLPT, and two MAGE domains in the C-terminus. It may play a signaling role in brain, muscle, and peripheral nerve. This gene is located on X chromosome in a region containing loci linked to mental retardation. [provided by RefSeq, Mar 2010]

GeneCards Summary for MAGEE1 Gene

MAGEE1 (Melanoma Antigen Family E1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with MAGEE1 include hepatocellular carcinoma and melanoma. An important paralog of this gene is MAGEC3.

UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot for MAGEE1 Gene

  • May enhance ubiquitin ligase activity of RING-type zinc finger-containing E3 ubiquitin-protein ligases. Proposed to act through recruitment and/or stabilization of the Ubl-conjugating enzyme (E2) at the E3:substrate complex.
