GeneCards Summary for LRRC16A Gene
LRRC16A (Leucine Rich Repeat Containing 16A) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with LRRC16A include acute urate nephropathy and gout. Among its related pathways are Hemostasis and Factors involved in megakaryocyte development and platelet production. GO annotations related to this gene include protein complex binding. An important paralog of this gene is RLTPR.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot for LRRC16A Gene
Binds CAPZA2 with high affinity and significantly decreases CAPZA2 affinity for actin barbed ends. Increases the rate of elongation from seeds in the presence of CAPZA2, however, seems unable to nucleate filaments. Rapidly uncaps barbed ends capped by CAPZA2 and enhances barbed-end actin polymerization (By similarity). May control actin dynamics in lamellipodia. Required for cell migration.
