Previous GeneCards Identifiers for IL17F Gene
The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine that shares sequence similarity with IL17. This cytokine is expressed by activated T cells, and has been shown to stimulate the production of several other cytokines, including IL6, IL8, and CSF2/GM_CSF. This cytokine is also found to inhibit the angiogenesis of endothelial cells and induce endothelial cells to produce IL2, TGFB1/TGFB, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1. GeneCards Summary for IL17F Gene
IL17F (Interleukin 17F) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with IL17F include candidiasis, familial, 6, autosomal dominant and chronic mucocutaneous candidosis. Among its related pathways are Cytokine production by Th17 cells in CF and IL-17 Family Signaling Pathways. GO annotations related to this gene include protein homodimerization activity and cytokine receptor binding. An important paralog of this gene is IL17A.
