Previous Symbols for IFNAR1 Gene
The protein encoded by this gene is a type I membrane protein that forms one of the two chains of a receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding and activation of the receptor stimulates Janus protein kinases, which in turn phosphorylate several proteins, including STAT1 and STAT2. The encoded protein also functions as an antiviral factor. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
GeneCards Summary for IFNAR1 Gene
IFNAR1 (Interferon (Alpha, Beta And Omega) Receptor 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with IFNAR1 include malaria and cerebral amyloid angiopathy. Among its related pathways are PI3K-Akt signaling pathway and Signaling by GPCR. GO annotations related to this gene include type I interferon receptor activity. An important paralog of this gene is IL10RB.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot for IFNAR1 Gene
Associates with IFNAR2 to form the type I interferon receptor. Receptor for interferons alpha and beta. Binding to type I IFNs triggers tyrosine phosphorylation of a number of proteins including JAKs, TYK2, STAT proteins and IFNR alpha- and beta-subunits themselves. Can also transduce IFNB signals without the help of IFNAR2, and not activating the Jak-STAT pathway
