Previous GeneCards Identifiers for GSTO1 Gene
The protein encoded by this gene is an omega class glutathione S-transferase (GST) with glutathione-dependent thiol transferase and dehydroascorbate reductase activities. GSTs are involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics and carcinogens. The encoded protein acts as a homodimer and is found in the cytoplasm. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]
GeneCards Summary for GSTO1 Gene
GSTO1 (Glutathione S-Transferase Omega 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with GSTO1 include Proliferative Type Fibrocystic Change Of Breast and Intracystic Papillary Adenoma. Among its related pathways are Cytochrome P450 - arranged by substrate type and Drug metabolism - cytochrome P450. GO annotations related to this gene include oxidoreductase activity and glutathione dehydrogenase (ascorbate) activity. An important paralog of this gene is GSTO2.
