Summaries for FICD Gene

GeneCards Summary for FICD Gene

FICD (FIC Domain Containing) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with FICD include Extragonadal Germ Cell Cancer and Depersonalization Disorder. GO annotations related to this gene include protein adenylyltransferase activity.

UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot for FICD Gene

  • Adenylyltransferase that mediates the addition of adenosine 5-monophosphate (AMP) to specific residues of target proteins. Able to inactivate Rho GTPases in vitro by adding AMP to RhoA, Rac and Cdc42. It is however unclear whether it inactivates GTPases in vivo and physiological substrates probably remain to be identified.

Function for FICD Gene

Molecular function for FICD Gene

UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot CatalyticActivity:
ATP + [protein] = diphosphate + [protein]-AMP.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot EnzymeRegulation:
Adenylyltransferase activity is inhibited by the inhibitory helix present at the N-terminus: Glu-234 binds ATP and competes with ATP-binding at Arg-374, thereby preventing adenylyltransferase activity. Activation dissociates ATP-binding from Glu-234, allowing ordered binding of the entire ATP moiety with the alpha-phosphate in an orientation that is productive for accepting an incoming target hydroxyl side chain.
UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot Function:
Adenylyltransferase that mediates the addition of adenosine 5-monophosphate (AMP) to specific residues of target proteins. Able to inactivate Rho GTPases in vitro by adding AMP to RhoA, Rac and Cdc42. It is however unclear whether it inactivates GTPases in vivo and physiological substrates probably remain to be identified.
