Summaries for DRD1 Gene

Entrez Gene Summary for DRD1 Gene

  • This gene encodes the D1 subtype of the dopamine receptor. The D1 subtype is the most abundant dopamine receptor in the central nervous system. This G-protein coupled receptor stimulates adenylyl cyclase and activates cyclic AMP-dependent protein kinases. D1 receptors regulate neuronal growth and development, mediate some behavioral responses, and modulate dopamine receptor D2-mediated events. Alternate transcription initiation sites result in two transcript variants of this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]

GeneCards Summary for DRD1 Gene

DRD1 (Dopamine Receptor D1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with DRD1 include Drug Addiction and Pathological Gambling. Among its related pathways are Peptide ligand-binding receptors and Signaling by GPCR. GO annotations related to this gene include G-protein coupled receptor activity and G-protein coupled amine receptor activity. An important paralog of this gene is DRD5.

UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot for DRD1 Gene

  • Dopamine receptor whose activity is mediated by G proteins which activate adenylyl cyclase.

Tocris Summary for DRD1 Gene

  • D1 and D5 receptors (also known as D1-like receptors) are a subset of the dopamine receptor G-protein-coupled receptor family that also includes D2, D3 and D4. The two receptor subtypes are highly homologous and very few ligands are selective between them.
