About This Section
| Entrez Gene summary for DDX39A: This gene encodes a member of the DEAD box protein family. These proteins are characterized by the conserved motifAsp-Glu-Ala-Asp (DEAD) and are putative RNA helicases. They are implicated in a number of cellular processes involvingalteration of RNA secondary structure, such as translation initiation, nuclear and mitochondrial splicing, andribosome and spliceosome assembly. Based on their distribution patterns, some members of the DEAD box protein familyare believed to be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. Alternatively splicedtranscript variants encoding different isoforms have been found. (provided by RefSeq, Feb 2011) UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot: DX39A_HUMAN, O00148Function: Involved in pre-mRNA splicing. Required for the export of mRNA out of the nucleus Gene Wiki entry for DDX39A (DDX39)
