This gene is a member of the caudal-related homeobox transcription factor gene family. The encoded DNA-binding protein regulates intestine-specific gene expression and enterocyte differentiation. It has been shown to induce expression of the intestinal alkaline phosphatase gene, and inhibit beta-catenin/T-cell factor transcriptional activity. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
GeneCards Summary for CDX1 Gene
CDX1 (Caudal Type Homeobox 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with CDX1 include appendix adenocarcinoma and thymus adenocarcinoma. Among its related pathways are Regulation of Wnt-mediated beta catenin signaling and target gene transcription and Cytoskeleton remodeling Regulation of actin cytoskeleton by Rho GTPases. GO annotations related to this gene include RNA polymerase II distal enhancer sequence-specific DNA binding and transcriptional activator activity, RNA polymerase II distal enhancer sequence-specific binding. An important paralog of this gene is CDX4.
